This is outside my local Fire Station, surprisingly less morbid than normal. Previous displays have including full reenactment of a crash scene complete with crashed cars that have their roof cut off (like they would if occupants had spinal injuries) and fake blood.

Ye’, don’t drink and die, but if you must die, die carefully.
But ye’, seriously don’t drink and drive or drive impaired.

I’m not much of a drinker, but I went out in Essex over the weekend with friends for a mates birthday and by the time we wanted to go back, there was no cabs at all in the area, we called over 10 cab companies, there wasn’t any buses or anything either. We spotted a cab by blind luck that had 8 seats (six of us) and was available, it was the first time I ever hailed a cab and I was a hero.
In situations like that I can see why someone of questionable integrity would drive but it’s not something I’d be doing.

My high school had several “crash reenactments” they had two or three wrecked cars made to look like they had been t boned, the drama kids played teens that drove drunk, fire fighters came and cut open the cars pulling kids out. Teachers would drive up and act as parents showing up to find their kids dead,or almost there.
The worst part is not one kid took it seriously, I just liked watching the jaws of life do their job.

I mean this is tame for us in Britain, just go to YouTube and search for British drink driving adverts, some are brutal. It also helps that you can now be sentenced to life if you kill someone whilst DUI, previously it was something like 4 years max.

The back half probably just rusted off, giving them an easy job.
I’m not sure if scaring people really works to make them stop drinking and driving, however I agree with the message.

I bet the rust started just below the fuel filler.
If there’s one thing that work on the British public, it’s scare tactics, that’s how Brexit happened, only in that case the scary statements were false.

Yeah, haha exactly.
Well, I’m sure a certain degree of scare tactics would be effective here in the Netherlands too, however I think the Dutch are a bit too down to earth for it to really be effective. That’s why I hope our elections next year will not go in the same anti-europe/anti-foreigners direction as the Brexit did for the UK.

They did something similar at my school last year. Although they went out to the football field and had the helicopter come and haul the kids away
But just like yours, it was too over the top and not a single kid cared. It was the joke of snap chat all week.

I hope not too, I need to keep the Netherlands on my list of potential countries to escape to if things get too bad here.

I’m in Carlisle and going out to Allonby in the summer for a walk with friends dogs is always nice, especially after visiting the pie and ice cream shop. Beats going to Silloth anyway.

It’s probably all of a Ford Ka, the rest has rotted away.

Carlisle...we lived in Cockermouth actually lol [cue the place name humor]. Going to Carlisle was always fun because it was like going to the big city. Like, they had a Wimpy Bar and an M&S and everything. Cockermouth probably has grown and maybe has more things now; still, very fond memories of Carlisle. Like, one time the P&M took a wrong turn and we found ourselves driving along Her Majesty’s Maundy Thursday parade route in front of Carlisle Castle haha...
Too young at the time to have noticed distictions between Silloth and other spots, just have happy memories of them as picturesque and very interesting Coming from where we were from (Tennessee, USA) everything was new, different, and cool though :) And summers *are* beautiful there...
Cheers

ye’, when your born and raised in Cumbria. Cockermouth stops being funny quite early on. Lol.
Carlisle while being the largest city in Cumbria isn’t even a blip compared to other cities. The Wimpy on the crescent closed many years ago. M&S expanded to the building next door and recently expanded with a satellite food hall.
Her Majesty and the royal family still come to Carlisle quite often, which is nice.
Carlisle, Cockermouth, Allonby and Silloth would of been a far cry from Tennesee I bet.

There is no shortage of ‘willing’ ones out on the west coast. Lol.
Take care fella.
Glad you enjoyed your time here.
